June 2013 Newsletter

Dear Friends:

What a rainy and windy month of June we have had!  It has been great for the landscape, but many of us feel a bit waterlogged!  It's time for some sunshine!  Our baseball outings have been canceled twice due to weather conditions, but we are prepared for anything with our Cracker Jacks and Whaler caps!  Many thanks to Bill and his family for acquiring the items for us, and I'm sure we will get an opportunity to celebrate with them!

Diane has had her surgery and is currently in rehab.  We all wish her the very best, and hope to see her soon!

We still have some vacancies.  Please spread the word to your friends and family who may be looking for a change in their living situation.  Just drop by or call Tish for more information.  We are expecting three temporary residents this summer and into the fall, each with stays ranging from 4-8 weeks.

In July we are planning a trip to the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum for a guided tour of this wonderful museum.  Many thanks to Laura Stewart from the Saltmarsh Center, Nancy Tyrer from the Nantucket Atheneum, and Lisa McCandless from the Egan Maritime Institute for their hard work in planning this event.  We will be enjoying ice cream sandwiches on the picnic tables in honor of National Ice Cream  month!  It promises to be a great afternoon in a wonderful setting, and who doesn't like ice cream!

In July we not only celebrate the fourth, we also celebrate Brendel's birthday on the 25th!  Happy Birthday Brendel!

We had a lovely party for Emma Rusch at The Homestead in June to celebrate her 103rd!  Her family put on a great barbeque and we were all invited to join in on this festive celebration for such a remarkable woman!  It was a great time and we thank the Rusch family that came from near and far, for including us in this special occasion.

Well, here's hoping the weather will improve and that we may enjoy many summer time backyard barbeques!

Happy fourth!
